Where is AVID in Texas?
In 1997 the San Antonio Independent School District began implementing AVID in just a few schools. Its success in Texas over the past 15 years has resulted in the implementation of AVID in 880 schools, spanning 126 school districts, which makes Texas’ statewide implementation of AVID the second largest in the nation.

AVID Open Houses 2013-2014
AVID Open Houses are an opportunity for educators to share best practices and learn more about AVID. The learning experience will include AVID elective and con-tent class observations. You will also have the chance to speak with experienced AVID site team members and students.
Who Should Attend: District and School Administrators, AVID Site Team Members, Educators from Schools interested in learning about AVID.
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Please plan to attend all 5 hours. Lunch will be provided

AVID has a unique support system for large or small districts!
AVID Information Sessions are an opportunity for educators to share best practices and learn more about AVID. The learning experience will include AVID elective and content class observations. You will also have the chance to speak with experienced AVID site team members and students.
- In Texas, 89% of AVID students planned to enroll in college (76% in a four-year college and 33% in a two-year college).
- On a national basis, 99% of AVID students graduate from high school.
- AVID is implemented in over 130 districts in Texas on over 700 secondary campuses.
AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system that is
designed to increase schoolwide learning and performance. The AVID College Readiness System (ACRS) accelerates student learning, uses research based methods of effective instruction, provides meaningful and motivational professional learning, and acts as a catalyst for systemic reform and change. The ultimate goal is to move capable students into more rigorous coursework leading to four-year college enrollment and readiness.
