How Organizations Help

A Promise to Keep, A Future of Boundless Possibilities

The 20th century witnessed some of the greatest advancements in history - from the civil rights movement to aerospace exploration to the mapping of the human genome. The innovations of science created miracles once unimaginable and our intellectual values pursued the promise of a world of possibilities.

These extraordinary feats are the ordinary doing of education. The role of AVID is to harness the boundless possibilities of the future that are the ingenuity and talent being fostered among our students today.

Educational equity is the urgent test of the 21st century, yet the horizons of opportunities are not fully expanded and the progress toward equity in education is not complete. Although college is no longer a place only for the privileged few, the resources toward college readiness remain unattainable for many students, particularly those from families without a college-going tradition.

Your financial support of AVID will provide students with the academic rigor and supportive classroom environment that is needed to advance their full potential.

Corporate Giving and Philanthropic Support

AVID is implemented in nearly 4,500 schools in 45 states and 16 countries/territories. The support of organizations like yours is essential to extending AVID’s impact on local communities across the nation and around the world.

AVID’s reach of more nearly 400,000 students from grades 4-12 is made possible due to the charitable support from a diverse range of companies and foundations of every size and type.

Various ways your business or foundation can help:

  • Corporate Sponsorships/Special Events: Collaborate with AVID on a project or program, or sponsor an AVID conference or Summer Institute.

  • Adopt an AVID school: Provide matching support for teacher training and curriculum materials.

  • Volunteer: Serve as a guest speaker at an AVID classroom near you to share the important role that education has played in your career. For example, in San Diego, the CLASS (Corporate Leaders Advocating Success Skills) program places business leaders directly into high school classrooms to illustrate the value of interpersonal skills in a workplace setting through role-playing, discussions and mock interviews. Volunteers share their industries and what it takes to be a success.
