Professional Learning

Professional DevelopmentOne of the elements that truly sets AVID apart from other programs is that AVID is not only a college-readiness system focused on raising achievement for all students; it is also a professional learning organization providing a great resource for AVID districts, schools and teachers.

Ongoing professional learning is critical to supporting student and teacher success. Each year, AVID Center offers numerous professional learning training opportunities. We have a strong cadre of staff developers and trainers. Whether you are just beginning to implement AVID, or are interested in honing your school's program, there are a variety of trainings available.

The Professional Learning Dates 2012-2013 provides the training dates for 2012-2013 and the Professional Learning & Publications Catalog provides an overview of all trainings currently offered by AVID Center. Additional information about specific events and trainings can be found below.

Annual Events

AVID Summer Institutes

AVID's success is rooted in its proven methodologies, strategies and schoolwide implementation. AVID's structured approach empowers students with the support they need to succeed in the most challenging classes. Using writing, inquiry, collaboration and reading modeled in the rigorous AVID course, students become college ready.

The AVID school supports high expectations for all students. AVID site team members become mentors, counselors and advocates. In this enriched environment, each student becomes more confident and prepared to take the necessary steps toward a successful future. more

National Conference

AVID Center will offer superintendents, district leaders, principals, teacher-leaders, counselors and school board members an opportunity to engage in a dialogue on the crafting of a plan to close the achievement gap; a plan that is cost-effective, proven, and easy to replicate. more
