AACPS Honored as a District of Distinction for Enhancing Student Success With AVID
Posted by AVID Center on 9/26/2019
Congratulations to Anne Arundel County Public Schools in Maryland, as they are one of just 34 school districts from across the nation to be named a District of Distinction by District Administration magazine! AACPS earned this award for their work in helping students across the district with AVID.
District Administration magazine began the Districts of Distinction Program to “honor school districts that are leading the way with new ideas that solve challenges.” Honorees are chosen based on quantifiable results and the replicability of their initiatives.
AACPS Superintendent George Arlotto recognized AVID’s role in enhancing student learning throughout the district, by saying, “AVID is a key part of our efforts to elevate all students and eliminate all gaps. We have grown the program from targeted instruction for AVID Elective students to schoolwide instruction for all secondary students. AVID strategies are now infused in all classrooms at all levels. As a result, we have been able to help many more students realize and be prepared to take advantage of a broader array of options for their future.”
