Resources and Professional Learning to Support Multilingual Learners in PreK–12 Classrooms
Resources and Professional Learning to Support Multilingual Learners in PreK–12 Classrooms
Beyond resources, multilingual classrooms need teachers who are supported and students who are seen. AVID Emerge provides a professional learning experience via Community of Practice (CoP) and a flexible digital toolkit to make that connection possible.
AVID Emerge Secondary and AVID Emerge Elementary provide ready-to-use routines, scaffolded lessons, and family connection workshops for PreK–12 that enhance your existing curriculum.
Grounded in AVID’s proven strategies and tailored specifically for multilingual learners, Emerge empowers educators to create language-rich, student-centered classrooms where every learner can build confidence.
You know what your students need. Emerge helps you deliver that support with confidence and clarity.
Across designated ELD and integrated content-area classrooms, Emerge creates a cohesive approach to language development, ensuring multilingual learners experience consistent support in every setting.
Connect with an AVID Partner Engagement Manager to determine whether the Elementary or Secondary approach is the best fit for your needs.
Engage in AVID Emerge Communities of Practice (CoPs) at our various events (AVID Summer Institute™, AVID Virtual Live™, and AVID Path to Schoolwide®). CoPs are divided by elementary and secondary grade bands.
Everything you need to support English learners. No extra planning, no curriculum overhaul. Just clear, ready-to-use tools that meet your learners where they are.
One-size-fits-all doesn’t work when supporting multilingual learners, and AVID Emerge is built with this in mind. Each instructional routine in the Emerge toolkit is backed by scaffolding designed to support students at Entering, Emerging & Developing, and Expanding & Bridging proficiency levels.
Whether you're implementing a critical reading routine in tenth grade or a community builder in second, you'll find developmentally appropriate materials that help students grow in language and confidence without extra prep work.
Each lesson includes:
AVID Emerge helps teachers implement high-impact routines with flexibility and clarity, so that students aren’t just participating, they’re thriving.
AVID Emerge is grounded in current research on multilingual learner success. Learn how evidence-based practices such as differentiated scaffolding, academic language development, translanguaging, and structured student discourse inform the AVID Emerge Toolkit and professional learning.
AVID Emerge offers aligned supports that move students forward at every stage.
Emerge isn’t just professional learning, it’s professional support. Our continuing support model is for real schools and real pacing, with practical training that helps teachers implement routines immediately and deepen their impact over time.

They are designed to:
· Support immediate classroom application

· Provide flexible, on-demand professional learning
As you complete modules, additional resources are unlocked—allowing you to deepen your learning over time.
Community of Practice: A group of educators, participating in AVID professional learning, who share similar roles, belief, and intention.A Community of Practice starts with AVID professional learning, led by AVID facilitators, and continues with opportunities for networking to further build collective educator agency beyond the initial professional learning experience.
The AVID Emerge CoP connects:
· Professional learning (SI, PATH, AVL)
· Toolkit resources
· Microlearning modules
· Continued engagement and application
The goal is to support sustained growth—not just a one-time training.
