Dr. Jaime Lomax brings more than 20 years of experience as a strategic, systems-driven K–12 education leader with a passion for advancing student achievement and building sustainable, high-impact programs. Her longstanding connection to AVID runs throughout her career—from her early work as an AVID Elective teacher and District Director to her leadership roles as an AVID Program Manager, Partner Engagement Manager, and Associate Area Director.
Before returning to AVID Center, Dr. Lomax served as the executive director of student support services at Metro Nashville Public Schools. In that role, she led a portfolio of large-scale student support initiatives and managed a team of more than 150 district support professionals. Her leadership focused on aligning district resources, partnerships, and professional development to meet the diverse needs of students across the district.
Dr. Lomax is widely recognized for her expertise in leading districtwide implementation strategies, developing cross-sector partnerships, and driving continuous improvement in public education systems. Her work has consistently focused on supporting educators, empowering students, and strengthening outcomes through sustainable, mission-aligned practices.
Dr. Lomax holds an EdD in K–12 Instructional Leadership, with a concentration in Urban Education, from Nova Southeastern University. In addition, she earned an EdS in Administration and Supervision and an MEd in Higher Education Administration from Middle Tennessee State University, along with a BA in English and a minor in Technical and Scientific Communication from James Madison University.
In addition to her professional work, Dr. Lomax is an active leader in civic and service-based organizations. Most recently, she was selected for and completed L’Evate, a distinguished leadership development program that aligns business and community leaders to learn, interact, and engage with surrounding communities.
Dr. Lomax’s leadership is rooted in her commitment to innovation, collaboration, and ensuring that every student is equipped to thrive in college, career, and life. As Vice President of National Programs, she plays a key role in shaping the future of AVID and expanding its reach to educators and students across the country.
