Showcase Focus:
WICORizing Instructional Systems: Embedding AVID into the Fabric of Schoolwide Practice- Discover how Stonecreek Jr. High is transforming instructional practice by embedding WICOR strategies into every level of its professional development model. This session showcases a systematic approach to integrating AVID's WICOR methodology through a three-pronged framework: teacher training, coaching, and collaboration through PLC. Participants will learn how departments have identified and implemented content-specific WICOR signature strategies, creating alignment across the campus. Ongoing training is delivered through Stonecreek's AVID Lesson Study PD series, where educators experience WICOR strategies and apply them in real time. Weekly PLCs include focused discussions on WICOR implementation, while instructional coaching and the WICOR Walkthrough Tool provide ongoing feedback and data monitoring. As staff engage in instructional rounds and analyze trends, they are taking increasing ownership of WICOR implementation, leading to a collaborative, reflective, and rigorous instructional culture.

An AVID Showcase is an in-person event where educators can observe AVID strategies in action, share best practices, and learn hands-on about AVID implementations. The experience includes classroom observations, discussions with experienced AVID teachers, administrators, and students, and access to various AVID resources and tools.
Participants are responsible for travel, lodging, and transportation arrangements to and from the event.
