Showcase Focus:
High Expectations are the Minimum

Overcoming academic and systemic adversity to develop advocates of agency and ownership. We focus on growth beyond the grade, asking ourselves, "where would we be in the absence of AVID?" Schoolwide systems such as AVID as a core class, quarterly AVIDence Groups for instructional development, and multiple opportunities for hands-on, real world experiences demonstrate how AVID is a beacon for our culture of learning. We utilize data to set our expectations inside and outside of the classroom, and we provide the tools necessary for our staff and students to rise to their challenges and activate their potential. High Expectations are the Minimum because Kino didn't come here to be average.
Does “All Students” Mean “All Students” at Your School or District?

We invite superintendents, district leadership, principals, and teacher leaders to see how schools are implementing AVID nationwide to:

  • Ensure student success by incorporating WICOR® (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) strategies throughout all classrooms to support increased rigor schoolwide.

  • Provide ongoing professional learning for staff and site-based coaching.

  • Build collective educator agency to transform culture in support of all students.

  • Align the K–12 college and career readiness journey.
