AVID Excel Elective Level 1: Implementing the Foundations of Instruction (2025–26)

The AVID Excel Elective Level 1: Implementing the Foundations of Instruction Community of Practice supports the AVID Excel Elective implementation, a one-period class for long-term English learners. This course utilizes the AVID Foundations of Instruction and research-based instructional routines in lesson design and delivery to accelerate academic language acquisition and academic success for experienced multilingual scholars. Participants will learn how to instruct, support, and monitor students using Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR®) and AVID Excel scaffolds, routines, and Digital Planning Guides.
