Showcase Focus:
From Standards to Success: Empowering Students with WICOR through Professional Learning Communities & Standards Based Learning (SBL)
Join Madison East High School’s journey as they implement Standards Based Learning (SBL) by leveraging the collective efficacy of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to empower students through the use of WICOR. During this showcase, visitors will have an opportunity to observe classrooms as well as PLCs to see how East High School is using SBL to support rigorous instruction for all. Visitors will also have an opportunity to learn about East’s AVID journey and converse with current AVID students about how WICORized SBL has prepared them for success beyond the classroom. While the journey is not complete, the intentional work of PLCs has proven successful in ensuring all students have access to rigorous instruction each and every day.
Does “All Students” Mean “All Students” at Your School or District?
We invite superintendents, district leadership, principals, and teacher leaders to see how schools are implementing AVID nationwide to:
Ensure student success by incorporating WICOR® (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) strategies throughout all classrooms to support increased rigor schoolwide.
Provide ongoing professional learning for staff and site-based coaching.
Build collective educator agency to transform culture in support of all students.
Align the K–12 college and career readiness journey.
