Professional learning can help any educator improve their practice while at the same time strengthening the teaching and learning culture on a campus. But all too often, site and district-level professional learning plans lack the focus, coherence, and staying power necessary to produce these ambitious outcomes. Or, the plans do not exist altogether.
When educators engage in AVID training without it being part of a broader, ongoing plan for professional growth and development, that AVID learning may have more limited transference into the classroom and less impact on students.
This workshop-style session allows leadership teams to explore the components of effective professional learning plans and develop a comprehensive plan for staff learning (or refine an existing plan) that maximizes their investment in AVID training, ensuring it transforms the student experience to the greatest extent possible. Each team will leave the workshop having drafted a detailed, personalized, multi-year plan for engaging and supporting staff that is sure to multiply the AVID investment.
