Why Your AVID Day Celebration Matters

AVID Day, celebrated nationwide on Friday, September 18, is a chance to recognize and celebrate that impact. It's a moment to honor the collective effort behind student achievement and to shine a light on the work happening every day to close opportunity gaps, expand access, and help students develop the confidence, skills, and agency they need to thrive. 

When educators, leaders, and communities work together, students are better prepared for what's next. Every classroom strategy, supportive relationship, high expectation, and investment in student success helps create more opportunities for students to build confidence, develop important skills, and see a future filled with possibilities. 

On AVID Day, schools, districts, and local and state governments celebrate the impact of those collective efforts through classroom activities, community recognition, and official proclamations. Students, educators, alumni, and families share their personal experiences by completing the phrase, "Because of AVID, I..." and posting with the hashtag #MyAVIDWhy. 

These stories and celebrations matter because they shine a light on what's possible when people come together around a shared commitment to opportunity and access. They remind us that behind every student success story is a community of people who believed in their potential and helped create a path forward.
