Science (2026–27)
The Science Community of Practice combines WICOR strategies with inquiry-based learning to enhance student engagement and foster scientific thinking. In this course, middle and high school science educators will explore disciplinary literacy, collaborative structures, and the AVID Focused Note-Taking Process using interactive notebooks to integrate engineering design, critical reading, and real-world phenomena. With interactive activities like the Rube Goldberg challenge and magazine ad investigations, participants new to AVID or refining their practice will discover how to energize their instruction and empower students to think, read, write, and collaborate like scientists.
