Transforming Literacy Elementary (2026–27)

Transforming Literacy Through Content-Area Reading: Elementary PreK–6 (2026–27)
Starting in June 2026

Transforming Literacy Through Content-Area Reading: Elementary Community of Practice is designed for elementary educators who want to deepen students’ access to rigorous content by embedding the AVID Critical Reading Process into daily instruction. Participants build disciplinary literacy across all subjects—helping students read, think, and learn like scientists, historians, and mathematicians. They work with diverse texts, scaffold comprehension, and design lessons that develop academic thinking skills, creating classrooms where every student can engage meaningfully with content.
