New teachers often enter the classroom eager but overwhelmed—especially when striving to create rigorous, student‑centered learning environments. This session explores how AVID’s Foundations of Instruction (FOI), paired with Get Better Faster coaching practices, can accelerate teacher readiness and build strong classroom culture from day one. Participants will learn how to coach new teachers in establishing high expectations, implementing WICOR‑aligned routines, and building relational capacity with students. Through interactive AVID strategies, scenario analysis, and leadership application time, attendees will leave with replicable tools to support new teachers in creating classrooms grounded in rigor, consistency, and belonging. Whether you support induction, lead professional learning, or coach teachers, this session equips you to strengthen teacher preparation and elevate AVID implementation across your system.
Measuring and monitoring Student Agency and Collective Educator Agency are critical to ensuring that all students and educators are thriving in an environment that contributes to their success. This session will illustrate how districts are using these surveys to achieve noticeable changes in students and educators. We will also introduce a new survey platform with new, shorter, mid-year check-in surveys designed to provide a “temperature check” to support staff conversations about where students are excelling or may need more support. These new processes will streamline engagement and real-time feedback. When these measures are planned for and monitored in contexts of the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework, opportunities to illustrate AVID’s impact and ROI are realized.
This session, geared toward participants who are new to AVID Secondary or are interested in implementing AVID, will focus on how AVID helps educators become more engaged so that students may succeed through college and beyond. Participants will walk away with an understanding of the impact that AVID can make by systematically increasing academic rigor, creating engaging learning environments, accelerating the performance of underrepresented students, and delivering results schoolwide.
