Description: AVID Elective Level 1: Implementing the Fundamentals of Instruction Community of Practice is designed for AVID Elective teachers and site coordinators. Participants engage in hands-on exploration of updated AVID resources to refine the 10-Step Tutorial Process, strengthen WICOR® strategies, and activate student agency through collaborative inquiry and academic conversations. Educators leave prepared to create supportive, engaging classrooms that foster college and career readiness.

Pre-requisite: AVID Elective Level 1  

Audience: AVID Elective Teacher, Site Coordinator  

Description: AVID Elective Level 2: Tutorials and Refining Implementation Community of Practice is designed for school AVID Elective teachers and/or AVID Site Coordinators who have completed AVID Elective 1: Fundamentals of Instruction. Participants refine the 10-Step Tutorial Process, strengthen WICOR® strategies, and activate student agency through collaborative inquiry and academic conversations. With hands-on exploration of updated AVID resources—including Weeks at a Glance and Elective Standards—and rigorous tutorial implementation, educators build brave, supportive classrooms that foster college and career readiness.

Description: AVID Elementary Implementation: PreK–2 Community of Practice is designed for PreK–2 educators focused on successful implementation. The course emphasizes modeling, encouragement, and support tailored to young learners. Participants develop an understanding of their role in an AVID Schoolwide system and learn how to integrate developmentally appropriate routines and WICOR® strategies with the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework, laying the foundation students need for college and career readiness.

Audience: Elementary Classroom Teacher, Instructional Coaches  

Description: AVID Elementary Implementation: 3–6 Community of Practice equips elementary educators with practical tools to implement WICOR® strategies and the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework in age-appropriate ways within an AVID Schoolwide system. This course focuses on building foundational academic skills through inquiry, collaboration, organization, and literacy tailored to upper elementary learners. Participants work with note-taking, goal-setting, and critical thinking routines that strengthen student agency and support academic success.

Audience: Secondary Administrator, District Director, District Administrator  

Description: Site Administrators Level 1 – Secondary equips secondary principals and site-level administrators who are new to AVID or relaunching implementation with the clarity, confidence, and purpose they need to lead. Grounded in the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework and AVID Schoolwide Domains, participants will explore how to build systems, foster culture, and model rigorous instruction through WICOR® strategies. Participants will dive into the AVID Elective model and actively explore the pivotal role site administrators play in bringing it to life through a focus on distributed leadership and collective educator agency, empowering them to be the AVID general contractor who drives sustainable change. Participants will leave with actionable tools, a clear purpose, and a roadmap to elevate college and career readiness for all students.

This Community of Practice invites you to dive into the AVID Emerge Digital Toolkit to discover powerful instructional routines and language-building strategies. Guided by the AVID Foundations of Instruction, you’ll engage in hands-on practice, collaborative learning, and practical planning that help you create language-rich, high-participation classrooms where every young learner can shine. * Please note: The AVID Emerge Toolkit incurs an additional cost. Description: AVID Emerge Secondary is for educators working with multilingual learners in Grades 6–12. This Community of Practice offers practical, high-impact ways to elevate language development for students at all language proficiency levels. Engage with strategies and routines from the AVID Emerge Digital Toolkit while anchoring your learning in the AVID Foundations of Instruction. Through active practice and collaboration, you’ll leave equipped to foster vibrant, language-rich classrooms where all students can learn, express, and thrive. * Please note: The AVID Emerge Toolkit incurs an additional cost. Description: Academic Language and Literacy Community of Practice equips educators who support multilingual learners and students needing language development across all grade levels and content areas. This course focuses on asset-based instruction and the four domains of language—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—woven into rigorous, scaffolded lessons. Participants integrate the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework through diagnostic teaching and collaborative routines that strengthen student voice, agency, and access to academic content.

Description: Creating Engaging and Rigorous Classrooms empowers elementary and secondary classroom educators and instructional leaders to create rigorous, student-centered classrooms using WICOR® strategies and the 4 A’s® of digital learning. Through hands-on collaboration, critical reading, and lesson design challenges, participants will learn to foster student agency, amplify voice and choice, and build relational capacity, transforming traditional instruction into engaging and equitable learning experiences.

Audience: Site Coordinator  

Description: Site Coordinators Level 1 is a dynamic course for new and relaunching AVID Site Coordinators that builds the leadership capacity needed to drive impactful, schoolwide AVID implementation. Participants will explore the AVID College and Career Readiness Framework, understand how to use the implementation instruments as a coaching tool, and learn to lead with WICOR® and rigor at the core. Through hands-on collaboration and practical tools, Site Coordinators will leave ready to champion AVID’s mission and transform their campuses for all students.
