    Colonel Robert Gordon, USA, Ret., joined AVID’s Board of Directors in 2018. He is the chief global officer of Connected Living, a private social network app that connects seniors to their families and friends. He has extensive senior management and cross-sector experience in the military, government, technology, and nonprofit sectors. He is the former president of Be the Change, Inc., a social impact organization that creates and manages national issue-based campaigns. He was also a senior executive at UpSkill, and senior vice president and chief people and program officer at City Year. In 2010, Mr. Gordon was appointed the deputy undersecretary of defense for military community and family policy, where he was responsible for defense-wide policy, program execution, and oversight of more than $20 billion of the Defense Department’s worldwide community and family programs and initiatives. He was awarded the selective Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service. He is a retired U.S. Army colonel who completed a 26-year career in the Army.

    Mr. Gordon serves on the boards of the Service Year Alliance, Grab the Torch, and Service Never Sleeps, and on the military community advisory board of the American Red Cross and the advisory council of Princet​on University’s Woodrow Wilson School for Public and International Affairs. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and a Master of Public Administration from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton.
